If you are about to order Starlink for the first time, an existing customer’s referral link is worth $100 to you and $100 to them in the US. You get it as cash or a credit on your bill, but only after two months of paid service, and only if you order on starlink.com.
The short answer
- What you get: Starlink’s Help Center says “You and the person you refer receive the same amount after they have subscribed for two months.” The amount depends on the country, “for example, $100 in the US.”
- What the sign-up page says: opened from the US on October 28, 2026, a referral link showed the banner “By signing up with this code, you and your friend will get $100 each—cash or service credit.”
- Who qualifies: “You must be a new Starlink customer. Existing or returning customers are not eligible.”
- Where to order: “Amounts are only issued for sign-ups on starlink.com. Kits from resellers, retailers, or account transfers are not eligible.”
- When it pays: “as soon as 60 days after they activate, depending on your country, settings, and identity check.”
How much is the Starlink referral bonus?
In the US, $100 for each side. Starlink’s referrals page says “both you and your friend each receive cash direct to your bank account or service credit,” and that “Rewards vary by region.” The Help Center gives $100 as its US example and says the figure “depends on the country they signed up in and is shown in your account.”
The $100-each version is recent. TeslaNorth reported on October 8, 2026 that Starlink announced it on X, quoting the post as “both you AND your friend receive $100,” and that the Canadian app showed 140 Canadian dollars for each side. TeslaNorth runs its own Starlink referral link, it says, so it earns a reward too. Treat the figure as the one on the sign-up page the day you order, not as a fixed price.
Here is what $100 covers at Starlink’s current Roam prices and its last published Residential prices:
| Plan | Monthly price | Months of service $100 covers |
|---|---|---|
| Roam 100GB | $55 | about 1.8 |
| Roam 300GB | $80 | 1.25 |
| Roam Unlimited | $175 | about 0.6 |
| Residential 100 Mbps (select areas) | $55 (Oct 13) | about 1.8 |
| Residential 200 Mbps (select areas) | $85 (Oct 13) | about 1.2 |
| Residential Max | $130 (Oct 13) | about 0.8 |
The Roam prices are from Starlink’s plans page on October 28, 2026. The Residential prices are from the same page on October 13, 2026; by October 28 it said “Get started below to see plans and pricing” instead of listing them, so yours may differ. Starlink also says the 100 Mbps and 200 Mbps plans “are only available in select areas.”
Who can use a Starlink referral link?
Only someone who has never had Starlink. The Help Center’s wording is “You must be a new Starlink customer. Existing or returning customers are not eligible.”
The new service also has to be one of these plans: “Residential Lite, Residential, Residential 100 Mbps, Residential 200 Mbps, Residential Max, Roam 100GB, Roam 300GB, and Roam Unlimited.”
The person sharing the link has to qualify too. The program “is open to customers on an active Residential or Roam plan,” and “accounts on Priority plans, and Enterprise or Business accounts, don’t earn referral rewards.”
Ordering from another country can change the figure: “Amounts may vary for referrals outside your country.” TeslaNorth, citing Starlink’s referral terms (not captured for this guide), reports a stricter rule, that the new customer “has to activate service at an address in the same country as the person who referred them.” If you and the person sharing the link live in different countries, ask Starlink support before you count on the reward.
How to use a referral link
Starlink’s steps for the new customer: “Sign up with the referral link on starlink.com, pay for the first month, and activate your kit.”
The link has to be there at checkout. Starlink says “a referral is only recorded when the new customer orders on starlink.com using your unique link,” and if the customer “ordered without your link, used someone else’s link, or bought from a retailer or marketplace store, the referral won’t appear and can’t be added later.” Open the link first and place the order from there.
When do you get the $100?
Not at checkout. Both rewards come “after they have subscribed for two months.” The Help Center puts the earliest payout at “as soon as 60 days after they activate, depending on your country, settings, and identity check.”
That means you pay for your first two months yourself. On Roam 100GB that is $110 at the October 28 price, before the $100 arrives.
The referral rules don’t mention Starlink’s 30-day trial. The sign-up page puts the trial as “Try Starlink for 30 days and if not satisfied, get a full refund.” Keep the kit and you stay on track for the reward; send it back inside those 30 days and the service never reaches two months, so expect no reward for either side.
The Help Center does not say whether months paused on Standby count toward the two. If you plan to pause straight away, don’t count on the reward.
Cash or bill credit?
Credit is the default. “Amounts default to service credit, applied to your account and deducted from your next invoice.”
Cash takes a few steps. Starlink pays it “through Stripe,” and you set it up under “Referrals > Reward Method on starlink.com in a web browser (not the app),” then “sign in to or create a Stripe account, verify your identity, and link your bank account.” Skip that and “your reward is issued as service credit.” Check “Referral Reward Types in your account to see if cash is offered,” and finish the Stripe setup: if your account shows “Finish onboarding,” Starlink says your Stripe setup “isn’t complete yet, and you can’t receive cash until it is.”
Each person picks separately. The Help Center says “Their choice does not change yours,” and that in “some countries it is service credit only.” The choice is “locked when the amount is paid out,” and Starlink describes switching to cash as applying “for future referrals,” so set it early, before you share a link or before your own reward is due.
Why a Starlink referral doesn’t count
Starlink’s Help Center rules, in one list, plus one that follows from them (marked):
| Situation | Reward? |
|---|---|
| You had Starlink before | No: “Existing or returning customers are not eligible” |
| You bought the kit at a store or from a reseller | No: those kits “are not eligible” |
| You took over someone else’s account | No: Starlink lists “account transfers” among what is “not eligible” |
| You ordered without the link, or with someone else’s | No: the referral “won’t appear and can’t be added later” |
| Your plan is not on the eligible list (Residential or Roam tiers) | No: only the listed “Eligible plans” count |
| The person who shared the link is on a Priority, Business or Enterprise account | No reward for them: those accounts “don’t earn referral rewards”; Starlink doesn’t say what the new customer gets |
| The identity check isn’t passed | It can hold up payment: the amount is issued “depending on your country, settings, and identity check” |
| You cancel before two months of service (follows from the rule) | No: the reward comes “after they have subscribed for two months” |
Starlink says to “Track successful referrals and rewards under Referrals on the web or in the Starlink app,” and “If a referral shows as Ineligible, hover over its status to see why”; hovering is a web-browser action, so check from a computer.
Is a Starlink referral code worth using?
If you are ordering on starlink.com anyway, yes: none of the Starlink pages read for this guide lists a cost or a different price for ordering through a link, and the sign-up page opened through a link showed Roam “STARTING AT” the same $55 as the plans page.
Think twice if a store has the kit on sale. A kit bought from a retailer earns no referral, so compare the store’s total with starlink.com’s price minus the $100 you would get in the US, and count the $100 only if you will keep paid service for two months.
Not sure which plan you need yet? The Starlink pricing guide lists every plan and fee, the dish decoder sorts the kits, and the Starlink Mini guide covers buying, renting and Standby for a travel dish. If you order through a referral link, stay on a paid Roam plan for two months before you pause, since the referral rules don’t say whether Standby months count.
If you already have Starlink: how to refer someone
You can share a link if your own account is on an active Residential or Roam plan. Starlink’s Help Center links existing customers to a page to start referring, and says “You receive an email if someone purchases through your link.” The reward lands under the same rules: two months after the new customer subscribes, as credit unless you have set up cash.

Does the person you refer get anything? Yes. Both sides “receive the same amount.”
Can you use a referral link if you had Starlink before? No. “Existing or returning customers are not eligible.”
Does a Starlink kit from a store count? No. Rewards are “only issued for sign-ups on starlink.com.”
Can a referral be added after I order? No. A referral missed at checkout “won’t appear and can’t be added later.”
A referral link, disclosed
This site’s author is a Starlink Mini owner with a referral link: starlink.com/?referral=RC-DF-12924450-39421-92. Order through it as a new customer on an eligible plan, stay subscribed for two months, and you and the author each get the reward under the rules above, $100 each in the US on October 28, 2026. If you live outside the US, use a link from someone in your own country. Any other eligible customer’s link (on a Residential or Roam plan, and ideally in your country) works the same way, so use a friend’s if they asked first.
