Estimate, not an invoice. Supercharger billing counts the kWh delivered to the car; the EPA figure counts kWh used per 100 miles. Cold weather, speed and a loaded car all push real use above the rating.
How this is calculated
Miles you add, times your car's EPA energy use per 100 miles, gives the kilowatt-hours the session delivers. That times the per-kWh price on the pin is the energy cost; other EVs without a membership pay the Tesla rate plus the premium you set. Congestion minutes times the fee per minute are added on top. The home and gas lines price the same miles at your home electricity rate and at your gas price and MPG. Every default is a dated example from the sources below and every one can be changed. The tool deliberately ignores charging losses, cold-battery slowdowns and per-minute billing tiers, which exist in a few areas; where a site bills per minute the app shows a per-minute price and this tool does not apply.

FAQ
Where do I find the price per kWh for a Supercharger?
Tap the site's pin on your car's map or in the Tesla app. Tesla shows the price on the pin's pop-up, with peak and off-peak hours where the site has them. The same rate card is public on Tesla's website under Find Us for each location.
Why does the calculator ask for a rate instead of giving me one?
Because Tesla prices every site separately, changes the price by the hour, and lets business owners who host Superchargers set their own rate. On September 8, 2026, seven Tesla site pages showed Tesla drivers paying anywhere from $0.17 to $0.50 per kWh. A single national number would be wrong for most sites most of the time.
Does it include the congestion fee?
Yes, if you add minutes. Tesla bills a congestion fee at busy sites once your battery is at or above 80 percent or the session has ended, after a five-minute grace period, typically $0.50 a minute in the US and up to $1.00. There is no cap, and the fee includes tax.
How accurate is the kWh estimate?
It uses the EPA's model year 2026 energy consumption rating for each Tesla, which is how much electricity the car uses per 100 miles in the EPA test. Supercharger billing counts the energy delivered to the car, and real driving in cold weather or at highway speed uses more than the rating, so treat the result as an estimate within a few percent, not an invoice.
Is Supercharging cheaper than gas?
Usually. At $0.46 per kWh a 2026 Model 3 Premium RWD costs about 11.3 cents a mile, against about 15.1 cents for a 27-MPG car at the August 31, 2026 US average gas price. An efficient hybrid can beat peak Supercharging; home charging beats both.
