Any solar panel can charge almost any power station, if three lines on two spec sheets agree: the plug has to fit (often through an inexpensive adapter cable), the panel’s voltage has to sit inside the station’s input window, and the panel’s current has to stay under the station’s amp limit. Wattage, the number printed biggest on the box, is the one spec that can’t hurt you.

Its rigid 200 W “24 volt” panel lists 37.44 volts, which is over the limit of an entire class of smaller stations, and is also the only one of the pair the seventh station accepts. Same brand, same wattage, opposite compatibility. The voltage line decides; this page shows you where to read it. And it hides a second surprise in the amps: below a voltage threshold, several popular stations quietly cap solar charging at roughly a quarter of the advertised input, which is why wiring two small panels in series can outrun buying one big one.

Every number below is transcribed from the maker’s own spec page on August 31, 2026. “Panel window” is the input voltage range the station accepts; a panel’s open-circuit voltage (VOC, printed on its label and datasheet) must stay inside it.

Every station’s spec page has one line that answers most of this, and it always has the same shape: watts, a voltage range, an amp cap. On the RIVER Max it reads “Solar Charge Input 200W 10-25V DC 12A Max”. On other stations it hides under names like Solar Input, DC Charge Input, or PV Input, but the shape is the same. Find that line for your unit, and you have two of the three answers; the plug next to it is the third.
Can You Use Any Solar Panel With a Power Station?
Mostly yes, and the reason is that the intelligence lives in the station, not the panel. A solar panel is dumb glass: it makes whatever voltage and current the sun and its wiring allow. The box on your side of the cable contains the charge controller, an MPPT (maximum power point tracker), that negotiates with the panel; the DELTA 3 Plus, for one, advertises the controller outright (“Solar Input with 1000W MPPT”). Brand matching is marketing. Electrically, a station only asks the three questions from the top of this page: does the plug fit, is the voltage in the window, is the current under the cap.
One honest exception: panel kits sold “with charge controller” are built for charging 12-volt batteries directly, and the controller they bundle is a second brain the power station does not need. Renogy’s 200 W suitcase bundles a 20 A controller for battery duty and is also, per Renogy, power-station friendly: “This kit is compatible with most power stations.” If a kit’s listing doesn’t say that, the plain-panel version without the controller is the simpler buy for a power station.
The Voltage Rule That Protects Your Charge Port
The one number that can actually cause damage is voltage. Open-circuit voltage is what the panel produces with nothing regulating it, which is exactly what the station’s input sees at the moment you plug in. The rule: the panel’s VOC, and the sum of VOCs for panels wired in series, must stay under the top of the station’s window.
Watch the trap hiding in panel names first. Renogy’s own FAQ, explaining its “24 Volt” naming, spells out that the number “does not refer to the voltage of this solar panel (VOC or VMP)” but to the battery system the panel suits. Panels sold as “12V” carry the same naming logic; their real numbers are the 21-to-25-volt VOCs all over this page. A “12 volt” panel really runs at 18 to 22 volts; a “24 volt” panel runs in the high 30s. The real numbers sit two lines down the datasheet.
Now the worked examples, using the table above:
- Renogy 200 W rigid, VOC 37.44 V: fits every 60-volt window in the table with room to spare. On the RIVER Max’s 25-volt window it is over the limit before you unfold a kickstand; that class of station refuses it at best.
- Two of them in series: 74.88 volts. Over every 60-volt window in the table. The one input that swallows the pair is the Pecron E2400LFP’s GX16MF, with its 32-to-95-volt window.
- Folding 21.5-volt-class panels (the Renogy suitcase at 21.47 V, EcoFlow’s 220 W at “21.5V (Vmp 18.4V)”): one fits every 10-to-60-volt window in the table; two in series make about 43 volts, still inside every 60-volt window.
Even a familiar name needs the label check. Jackery’s SolarSaga 100 page carries two generations: the original listing 21.6 volts, and the current lighter build listing “24.8V±5%”, whose top tolerance grazes 26 volts, past a RIVER Max-class 25-volt ceiling. The E2400LFP cuts the other way: its main input starts at 32 volts and its small barrel jack tops out at 18, so a single 21.5-volt-class panel misses both windows. No adapter cable fixes voltage; the answer there is series wiring or a higher-voltage panel.
Leave headroom rather than kissing the ceiling. Renogy’s own pairing guidance for the 37.44-volt panel wants a controller rated to at least 40 volts, about 7 percent of margin, because a cold, bright morning pushes VOC above the label figure.

Buying first-party sidesteps the decoder: EcoFlow’s 220 W panel includes the XT60i cable, Bluetti packs a “Solar Charging Cable” with the Elite 100 V2 and sells a “20A MC4 to XT60” version as an accessory, and the current SolarSaga 100’s published package list includes its matching cable plus a DC8020-to-DC7909 adapter for older Explorers.
Mixing brands costs one cable: an MC4-to-XT60 lead for the XT60 crowd (this 10-foot 12AWG one, or the XT60i version for current EcoFlow and Anker ports), an MC4-to-8mm lead for Jackery ports. Pecron’s aviation-plug units are the odd case; Pecron sells a U20 universal kit with, in its words, “17 Different Adapter Cables” to bridge them. Get 12AWG or thicker wire and you will never think about the cable again.
One warning that saves charge ports: XT60 also appears as an output on some stations. The E2400LFP has an “XT60 30A(12V) Output” for powering 12-volt gear. A solar panel goes into the port labeled input, PV, or solar, never into a 12-volt output that happens to take the same plug.
Series or Parallel: What Wiring Two Panels Changes
Series stacks voltage: plug plus to minus, VOCs add, current stays the panel’s own. Parallel stacks current: a Y-branch pairs the plugs, VOC stays put, amps add. That gives you one sentence of strategy per direction. Wire in series until the summed VOC threatens the window’s ceiling; wire in parallel when voltage is already high enough and the amp cap still has room. The caps come from the table: 12 amps on the RIVER Max, 14.5 on the C1000 Gen 2, 20 on the E1000LFP and Elite 100 V2. The Renogy suitcase’s 11.89-amp short-circuit rating slides under the RIVER Max’s 12-amp cap with 0.11 amps to spare, and its 200-watt rating lands exactly on that unit’s 200-watt ceiling, which makes it just about the largest panel the legacy box can put to work.
And series has a payoff nobody advertises, which is the next section.
Why a 600-Watt Input Sometimes Charges at 150 Watts
Read Anker’s input line again: “11-28v⎓8.2A; 29V-60V⎓14.5A (600W Max).” That is two speed limits, not one. A single “12 volt” folding panel operates around 18 to 20 volts, inside the low band, where the station draws at most 8.2 amps: 18-to-20 volts times 8.2 amps, roughly 150 watts, no matter how much glass you deployed. Wire two of those same panels in series and the array runs around 37 to 40 volts, lands in the high band, and the same port pulls up to 14.5 amps, which works out to 536 to 580 watts of available input. Jackery’s ports have the same shape, 8 amps below 16 volts and 10.5 amps above it. The station did not get pickier; the spec sheet was telling you, in amps, that it wants voltage. If your panels charge slower than the input rating led you to expect, count bands before you blame clouds.
What Panels Really Deliver
Ratings are lab-condition ceilings. In OutdoorGearLab’s controlled clear-sky tests, run “at an elevation of 6300 feet on a clear day,” the best 200-and-220-watt-class panels measured 171 to 193 watts, or 86 to 91 percent of their ratings (the 91 percent belonged to a rigid aluminum-framed panel; the folding panels topped out at 88), and those were ideal conditions. Under Pacific Northwest overcast, with hazy summers and low winter sun angles, planning on two-thirds to three-quarters of the sticker (the sizing guide’s planning number, judgment rather than lab data) keeps your recharge math honest. The same guide runs the refill numbers: a 220-watt panel delivering about 160 watts refills a drained 576-watt-hour station in three and a half to four hours of strong sun.
Cost per watt, read from the makers’ pages on August 31, 2026: Renogy’s rigid N-type line starts at “From $109.99” for the 100-watt panel, about $1.10 per watt, while EcoFlow’s folding 220 W bifacial listed at $299, about $1.36 per watt, offered as a pre-order item that day. Rigid glass is the cheap watt, cheaper still in multi-packs and from rival brands, but it is a two-hand carry with no kickstand; folding panels charge for the convenience. And list prices are as theatrical here as they are for the stations themselves: OutdoorGearLab notes it has never actually seen that EcoFlow panel sell at its full price.
